Water resistance is one of the most sought after attributes of wall panels, and below is an analysis of the aluminum composite panel and how well it is able to resist liquid and moisture.
Aluminum based composite panel consists of sheet materials that have multiple layers, which includes dual aluminum sheets with a layer between where mineral filler has been set. The piles are connected via pressing, and such panels are considered highly versatile because numerous architectural elements may be derived from them.
Special additives are applied on composite panel polymer fillers to give them resistance to flames. It is for this reason that they are often used in train stations, shopping centers and gas stations. However, the material also provides outstanding moisture insulation. When liquid comes into contact with a façade surface made with composite panels, the liquid will go inside the drain which stops the moisture from penetrating insulation or the building’s walls.
However, this is only true of higher quality panels. Low end brands will bulge, fade or peel if exposed to excessive sunlight or moisture, especially for an extended period of time. You want panels which use fluorocarbon coating, which offers a durability that will last from ten to twenty years.
Both the internal and external facades are waterproof since the material has these properties built in. To understand how this works, you’ll need to know about the manufacturing process. Aluminum composite panels are assembled with joints that have been exposed to sealing treatment. Additionally, the weight of every square meter ranges from 3.5 kg to 5.5 kg, which means they are easier to transport and will sustain less damage from earthquakes.
Its protection against water comes from the fluorocarbon paint, which is PVDF based. It provides extreme resistance to weather, which includes torrential downpours along with hot sunny days or extensive snowfall. The panels can last for decades without fading, which is an incredible engineering feat. The coating is uniform and can be installed in numerous colors. Once they’ve been chemically treated and exposed to Henkel based film forming, adhesion between the panel and paint will be uniform and robust.
While aluminum composite panels can be applied to virtually any location, they are most commonly applied to ventilated facades, in the form of a coating system which has several layers. Perhaps the most fascinating thing about such facades is that they produce the chimney effect among the layers, where continuous ventilation will occur inside its chamber, resulting in a temperature that is stable.
This in turn provides superior energy efficiency, especially when compared to traditional systems. During summer, heat will be evacuated while circulating air can be renewed. By contrast, during winter the air circulation will slow which allows heat to be preserved. Aluminum is the material of choice thanks to its wide availability, numerous silicates and low density combined with its high resistance to corrosion. It is also an excellent conductor of electricity, which makes it ideal for industrial projects.
